Kathy Holmes-Rudenberg Remembered As Devoted Grandparent, Mother, Friend, And Escanaba School Lunchroom Worker

Kathy Holmes-Rudenberg, 57, is being remembered as a devoted grandparent, mother, and friend whose kindness touched family, students, coworkers, and community members.

A fundraiser created by Colleen Otero on June 19, 2026, said Kathy cared for four grandchildren, ages 6 to 17, while facing small cell carcinoma, an aggressive condition that could not be cured.

Kathy worked as a lunchroom worker at Escanaba Upper Elementary School, where people knew Kathy for generosity, compassion, and steady care for others.

The family also shared that Kathy lost beloved spouse John Rudenberg to cancer in 2020, adding to the challenges the household had carried in recent years.

As of the post, the fundraiser had raised $2,675 toward a $9,000 goal through 17 donations to support treatment costs, household bills, and planning needs.

Memorial and funeral service details will be announced later by family members.
